  • 01 July 2009: The online visa application system, Visa4UK, will be unavailable on Friday 3 July at 08:00 to 11:00 British Summer Time. During this time you will not be able to apply online or check existing applications. The is due to essential testing of the online World-Pay system. The UK Border Agency apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.

  • 01 July 2009: The UK Border Agency online points-based system tools will be unavailable on Sunday 5 July between 17:00 and 18:05 British Summer Time. The self-assessment tool, sponsorship management system and sponsor application will be offline so that essential maintenance work can be carried out. You will not be able to use the online points-based system tools during this time.

  • 12 June 2009: Online application system survey. We would like to hear your views about our online visa application system, Visa4UK, so that we can look at ways to improve the service we offer you. The survey will not take more than 3 minutes to complete. The responses are anonymous and they will not affect the outcome of your application. Follow this link to complete the survey.   • 02 June 2009: Delay in application process Please note that due to a surge in applications non-settlement applications are now taking between 4-6 weeks to process and settlement applications 12 weeks. Applications already submitted are being cleared on the basis of date due to travel. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by these delays

  • 02 June 2009: Problems accessing the online visa application system Visa4UK. Some applicants may be experiencing problems in accessing the online application system following maintenance on 27-29 May. If users are still experiencing problems then they should either:
    • Press 'Ctrl' and F5 to refresh the page
    • Or access the online application system using the following web address - www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/ApplyNow.aspx

  • 20 May 2009: Visa letters. Important information for students
    The UK Border Agency has issued a reminder to foreign nationals who are applying to study in the United Kingdom under tier 4 of the points-based system. If you are applying under tier 4, please make sure that the visa letter issued to you by your approved education provider contains all of the required information as described in the tier 4 guidance. If you submit an application with a visa letter that does not contain all the required information, your application will be refused. It is your responsibility to make sure that the information you submit with your application is correct and complete. If your visa letter does not contain the required information, please contact your approved education provider.

  • 06 April 2009: If you want to study in the UK from 31 March 2009 you must make your application using the Points Based System Tier 4 (General) student or Tier 4 (Child) student. Please make sure that you complete the correct application form and points scoring appendix. If you are making an on-line application you must select the correct visa category and pay the correct fee. You are advised to carefully read the Tier 4 points based system guidance. Failure to provide the correct information may lead to your application being refused.

  • 03 April 2009: Applicants applying for settlement and points-based visas must schedule an appointment and complete an on line visa application form at www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk

  • 01 April 2009: Dates for implementation of visa regimes in Bolivia, Lesotho, South Africa, Swaziland and Venezuela announced. Please visit the UK Border Agency Visa Services website for more information.

  • 31 March 2009: New student immigration system launches in the UK on 31 March 2009. The points-based system aims to simplify the application processes. To find out more visit the UK Border Agency Visa Services website.

  • 25 March 2009: Important changes to Tier 1 (general) academic qualifications. From 31 March 2009, people wanting to make an application under Tier 1 (general) will need to hold a minimum level of academic qualification that is equivalent to a UK Masters degree, which is confirmed by UK NARIC. Further information on new rules for skilled and highly skilled migrant workers can be found on the UK Border Agency website.

  • 10 March 2009: New student immigration system set to launch in the UK on 31 March 2009
  • The VFS UK Visa Application Centre is officially authorised by the UK Border Agency at the British Embassy Bangkok, Thailand to accept applications for all categories of visas, collect visa application charges and return passports to applicants. In addition, the VFS UK Visa Application Centre arranges interviews at the UK Border Agency at the British Embassy.

    The UK Visa Application Centre is run and managed by VFS (Thailand) Ltd. VFS provides a visa application support service only. VFS staff have no power or influence over the outcome of an application. The decision to issue or refuse a visa is made by the visa officers at the UK Border Agency at the British Embassy. VFS's role is entirely impartial. VFS staff will provide visa information but they cannot and will not offer immigration advice.

    It remains our commitment to ensure the integrity of our visa process. Any applicant submitting false documentation or other information in support of their application may be refused a visa and the matter maybe referred to the local authorities.

    Use of Visa Agents

    There are a number of visa agents in operation throughout Thailand. Applicants may choose to use them to support or prepare their visa application. It is important to note that these agents are in no way whatsoever connected to the UK Border Agency at the British Embassy and they have no influence over the outcome of an application. The UK Border Agency's outsource partner is VFS Global, who operate from the VFS UK Visa Application Centre. Their staff are clearly identifiable by their uniform.

    Any decision to utilise the service of an agent is entirely at the applicants' discretion.

  • Where Can I Get Advice?

    VFS Global and its staff cannot give you advice on how to complete your application, or what type of visa you should apply for. If you need help with your application or advice about the UK's immigration rules and requirements, you should seek advice from a qualified immigration adviser. In the UK immigration advisers regulated by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC - www.oisc.gov.uk).

    You can also obtain advice from legally qualified professionals regulated by designated professional bodies. A list of legally qualified professionals who can advise on immigration matters can be downloaded from the following websites:
